The book, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne was about the event of the holocaust and concentration camps that were controlled by Hitler and the Nazi. This relates to the real-life historical events because it talks about the Jews that were in concentration camps but in this real-life event it doesn't mention a boy that moves from Berlin to Out-With(Auschwitz) that becomes good friends with a child in the concentration camps. (Making this book historical fiction) According to an article " A lot of Germans were definitely aware of mass killings of Jews (Slavs, mentally disabled etc.), but not what specifically happened in the concentration camps." This was the point of view of the people in Germany on this conflict. Bruno's family was not in the concentration camps but his father was named commandant by Hitler. Because of that Bruno's perspective on the camp was very different from his father's perspective. This book is connected to the Holocaust because it talks about the concentration camp and a specific person that was in the camp that Bruno became great friends with.
